Blood pressure (BP)is a very important indicator of a person’s health. Blood pressure shows the strength of the blood pressure in the arteries and blood vessels. It is a good indicator of how the cardiovascular system works. The heart is our main engine, it pumps blood into the arteries and vessels, carrying it throughout the body. Hypertension (high blood pressure) is dangerous because it makes the heart work overtime and causes hardening of the arteries. Chronic hypertension can contribute to heart failure.
In the vast majority of cases, patients with arterial hypertension show no signs of serious illness until their blood pressure reaches dangerously high, life-threatening levels. Patients who arefacing the early stages of hypertension suffer from migraines, experience dizziness, sometimes to the point of nosebleeds.
BP above 140/90 mmHg is generally considered elevated.
High can be both systolic (upper) and diastolic (lower) pressure, such as :
POWERFUL SISTOLIC PRESSURE 170/70 mm Hg.
POWERFUL DIASTOLIC PRESSURE 120/104 mmHg.
Or both – for example, 170/110 mm Hg.
But it is not all so obvious. Blood pressure level considered high enough for medical treatment may be different for each person. The doctor examines the totality of factors in order to decide whether to start treatment.
It is still impossible to name clear causes of high blood pressure, but it is possible to list with certainty the factors that influence its development, among them:
– Smoking
– Being overweight or obese
– Lack of physical activity
– Excess salt in the diet
– Excessive consumption of alcohol
– Stress
– Old age
– Genetics
– Family members with the same condition
– Chronic kidney disease,
– Adrenal and thyroid disorders
