For 25 years, Prof. Dr. Hans Michael Ockenfels engaged in the development and (light) therapy of inflammatory dermatomes. In 1991 he earned his doctorate with „magna cum laude“ at the University Skin Clinic Mainz on the topic of “psoriasis”. In 2000 he habilitated at the University of Essen and in 2010 he became an associate professor of the Medical Faculty Mannheim, University of Heidelberg. Since 1997, at that time the youngest chief physician of Germany, he heads the Department of Dermatology and Allergology at the clinic in Hanau. He introduced the so-called „excimer UVB laser“ for the treatment of psoriasis in Germany, which is now an integral part of the established treatment for psoriasis and vitiligo in Western European countries. He also holds patents for therapeutic light and laser systems.
For the Olympic athletes of the state of Hessen he developed a special concept for the prevention of the development of skin cancer, after he had repeatedly pointed out the hazardous effects of the sun within his own studies focusing on pro- fessional and leisure athletes. He is a member of numerous European professional societies such as the European Society for Dermatological Research, author and editor of numerous professional publications as well as a sought-after skin expert in the media and on the Internet portal PraxisVita.
Modern Dermatology offers a variety of methods for skin regeneration and rejuvenation, without obvious changes or even disfiguring in the natural features of the patient. Small vessels can be effectively removed without bleeding with the vascular laser. Age spots caused by sun on back of hands, face or neck area are also „released from the skin“ with the la- ser in one sitting, without anesthesia or patches
